Decreased thresholds for awarding public contracts as of 01/01/2020
As from 1 January 2020 the European Commission’s changes to the European thresholds when applying the procedures for the awarding of public contracts enter into force.
The new thresholds need to be considered as VAT exclusive.
- The award of contracts of works
New threshold: 5.350.000 EUR for contracts of works in the classic sector, specific sector, defense and security sector.
- The award of contracts of supplies and services
New threshold: 139.000 EUR for contracts of supplies and services in the classic sector (central governments).
New threshold: 214.000 EUR for contracts of supplies and services in the classic sector (decentralized governments, regions, local sector).
New threshold: 428.000 EUR for contracts of supplies and services in the specific sector (e.g. utilities, gas, electricity).
New threshold: 428.000 EUR for contracts of supplies and services in the defense and security sector.
- The award of concession contracts
New threshold: 5.350.000 EUR for works or concessions for services.
